Welcome to Gatwa W Gahwa,

Kuwait's very first Cat Cafe.

The Name

Gatwa W Gahwa means Cats & Coffee in Arabic. Why did we choose that as a name?

It's because we serve coffee along with our cats. (Okay, we don't 'serve' cats but you get the idea).

Family Friendly

All our cats are a delight to be around.

Each and every last one of them are among the most friendliest cats on the planet, and they've been hand-picked to be completely safe around children.

However as the welfare of the cats is our top priority, please ensure that any children you bring along with you are mature enough to behave themselves both around the cats and the other guests.

Time & Location

We're located in Galleria 2000 Mall, Salem Al Mubarak St, Salmiya.

Operating Hours:

Monday to Saturday

11 am to 10 pm

Closed on Sundays.

What is a Cat Cafe?

It all began in Taiwan where the very first Cat Cafe opened up on 1998. Soon the concept spread to Japan where it exploded in popularity, and by 2015 there were over 150 Cat Cafes in Japan alone. Not too long after that the concept jumped the Pacific to the United States and the rest, as they say, was history

So what exactly is a Cat Cafe?

Well, simply put it is a place where people and cats interact.

People can play with the cats, take pictures with them or just sit back and relax as you watch the cats lounge around you (or on you as the case may be).

Often drinks and food would be served, that's where the 'Cafe' part comes in, but not always. There are several Cat Cafes around the world that don't serve any food or drinks due to local hygiene restrictions.

Who are Cat Cafes for?

There are some people who want a cat of their own but can't get one, either due to them being banned from their apartments or other family members not wanting one. Others simply don't have the time to take care of a cat full time. Then there are those that simply love cats so much that they simply want to spend as much time with as many cats as they can.

They were the Cat Cafes original target market.

However, as the concept caught on all sort of people began venturing into Cat Cafes. From families looking for a place for to spend time with their children, to animal lovers looking for a place to hold their weekly meetings, to even yoga instructors looking for a peaceful place to hold their classes.

(Look up Cat Yoga, I didn't believe it either!)

What a Cat Cafe is not however is a drop off shelter. While all our cats are adoptable, they all come from local animal shelters. We ourselves do not accept surrendered cats. If you wish to surrender your cat then please get in touch with your closest animal shelter. If you are unsure where to find one, then please feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction.

We are also not a Pet Hotel.

We are simply a place for people and cats to meet in a calm relaxed enviorment.
